"I had a nightmare..." She rocks back and forth idly on tiny socked feet, her voice a whine as she pouts and looks down at the floor. Her curls bounce slightly with the motion.
Almond sighs, placing down his pen and rubbing his forehead.
"Big girls don't cry because of nightmares, Walnut Cookie. You want to be a detective, don't you? You've gotta be a big girl to do detective work." Almond scolds, his voice strangely calm but still holding a sharpness.
