Summary
an intimacy that is more like penetrating someone else's nervous system than love.
an artichoke is not a fruit that you just bite into.
to get to the core, you need to take your time
have patience
make effort
have the courage to go through the tough leaves.this is about kakashi.
and this is about obito, who wants but is too afraid to touch what's underneath the layers.
This is not a story about murder, or about love. It's a story about broken people who found solace in each other.
Their feelings are not about "I love you".
They're about "I want to know your inner soft spot, even if it hurts to get there".Bookmarked by FrancesMarion

"Do you think," Obito suddenly said, without looking away, "that everything always ends the way it should?"
"Not always," Kakashi replied after a pause. "But often."
"So... if something bad is going to happen, it will?"
Kakashi thought for a moment. He wasn't looking at the snake, but slightly past it, as if he could see something further away.
“People like to think that,” he said quietly, “as if it absolves them of responsibility.”

Summary
Obito Uchiha will admit that he used to be a supervillain.
Thankfully, a time-traveling ghost cured him of that. He now has a new plan for world peace: kidnap Sakura Haruno, teach her the Mokuton, and start a hidden village of peace and love. A child utopia will definitely save them all. If not, mass brainwashing stays Plan B.
In which the best revenge is living well, and one-upping Kakashi Hatake.

“If Ame had destroyed itself, and if I were selfish…” Konan stroked the hippo with one finger. It shook happily, arching upwards into the touch. “If I were tremendously selfish. I would take all of Ame’s orphans - the orphans of the world - and create a world just for them. A little village without adults to teach them violence or pain. Without bijuu or ninjas. Just a place where three orphans can be together. That’s all I want, I think…”
“If you were selfish,” Obito said quietly.
Konan yawned. “Yes. If I were selfish. Goodnight.”

“Does anything seem out of place here?” Kakashi asks, because he’s never going to give a straight answer to any question, is he?
“The graveyard’s not a graveyard anymore, because there’s no dying here,” Sasuke answers.
Kakashi nods, not looking away from his book. “True. But I was thinking more…natural than that.”
Sasuke falls into old habits, playing his teacher’s game. Trees, normal. Earth, normal. Wind, normal. Sunlight, normal. Moon-
“Fuck,” Sasuke says.
“Yep,” Kakashi says cheerfully.

Summary
In Kakashi’s defense, his “marriage” had seemed irrelevant when the world was ending around him.
And after having a clusterfuck of a Hokage ceremony, and dealing with reformed criminals, and evading dozens of assassinations, well… Obito didn’t appear too interested either way. His haphazard relationship would be forgotten and left to the annals of time. No harm, no foul, right?
The Council and Obito think otherwise.
(Kakashi reaps the reward anyway.)

“I— Hokage-sama, you—”
Kakashi cut him off viciously. “Well. Taman-san, right? It’s… refreshing to hear your opinions expressed so loudly. I’m sure that in the future, instead of yelling at my husband, you’ll bring your concerns up to my office, hm? We can have a pleasant discussion about your future as a shinobi.”
As if that weren’t enough to get his point across, he stepped even closer to Taman, who was now completely white-faced in terror. Speaking only loudly enough for the two of them to hear, Kakashi whispered something else in his ear. Obito had no idea what his, apparently now husband, had said, but he could make an educated guess from the whisper of killing intent and Taman’s shaking. The crowd around them had gone silent, unwilling to speak up in the face of their Rokudaime.
Kakashi shot a look at the woman from before, indicating that he hadn’t forgotten her transgression either, before offering an arm to Obito. “Let’s go, husband.” Mouth dry at the protective display of power, Obito nodded and took his elbow, and they disappeared in a silent shunshin.

Summary
Tenten’s dream is simple: she is fighting an enemy that never slows and never tires, and her endurance matches theirs perfectly. They go on, dancing and dancing and dancing, never dying, never pausing. No wounds are fatal. There is no winning, no losing- only motion. She pins them, and they slip out. They drive their weapon- sometimes a sword, sometimes a club, sometimes something completely alien- through her forehead, and she shakes it off. They have no face. They are not a person. They will stay locked in this dance with Tenten forever. It is the most beautiful thing Tenten has ever experienced.
And then she wakes up.

Their house is small and comfortable. Their garden is still getting on its feet, but they have enough money to buy food at the small, nameless market only a few miles from their home.
Every evening, Neji and Tenten spar. She’s not sure that he understands why she needs to do it, but she doesn’t really need him to.
“You weren't in my dream,” Tenten says one night, nursing a cup of sake.
“... I wasn’t?” Neji seems surprised.
“No one was,” Tenten says. “It was just me, and this… opponent. They weren’t really anyone.”
“...this was mine, pretty much,” Neji says quietly. “My dream.”
She hums. The moon, small and pale, hangs lifelessly in the sky.
“This isn’t half bad either,” Tenten says.
