If you asked Izuku Midoriya why he did what he did, he would tell you he didn’t want to deal with the dent in his bank account if his top client died. Money was the only reason, nothing more and nothing less. It was why his hands shook when the window lock popped open. It was the cause of hesitation before daring to look into the cold room, empty aside from a faint opalescent glow coming from the center of a still body. It was the desperate devotion that led him to enter the place he hated most. “Money,” he would simply say.
But as the steady beep of the heart monitor filled his ears... and a glow only Izuku’s dim eyes could see was the only sign that the body in front of him wasn’t a corpse. Izuku felt he stuck around for more than just a paycheck. Maybe Izuku was the only ghost in the room. Izuku swallowed hard and grasped the edge of the windowsill. Why did he come here again?
