Summary
After Xavier’s assassination, the X-Men expected Scott to get custody of them. It turns out Xavier left everything, including guardianship of his students, to an ex-husband his students didn’t even know he had. Now, they must learn to live with this new person while also hiding their mutant powers.
Magneto visits New York to grieve his late ex-husband. A mutate lawyer tracks him down and tells him he has to take care of a gaggle of recently orphaned children. Magneto tries his best to rise to the occasion without revealing he is the leader of the mutant nation Genosha and internationally known as a terrorist.

But there's something Charles doesn't know, and he's in over his head from the start....

Logan looks into his eyes- the effect is so much deeper with him than with anyone else; He can see Scott’s eyes, despite the ruby quartz, which makes it all the more intimate- and quickly looks back down at his claws. He retracts them. “People do crazy things for love.”
Right. Because Logan is in love with Scott’s wife.
It feels so natural for Scott- to exist, just the three of them- that he tends to forget his happiness brings Logan pain.
He picks up Logan’s hand and caresses the space between his knuckles. There’s still a bit of dried blood, creating an outline of his claws, and Scott wipes it away.
“Sometimes I worry that because your skin heals so fast, you try to make everything else fix itself on that timeline too... Just because the scar is gone doesn’t mean the pain wasn’t real.”

Behind the panels of House of X/Dawn of X. Everything historical mentioned is more or less canon, synthesized. A new nation is being born. Two of its founders are enjoying the chance to be on the same side. They're learning what mutant society was meant to be, and it seems like the answer is very gay.
I've added notes about what's canon to the end of the chapters. Was that necessary? No. Did anyone ask me? Also no. Is comics canon hilariously dramatic and extremely queer? Yes, mercifully. Chapter 5 is an interlude, and extra scenes that didn't match the rating are added on in the series.
