“GOOD MORNING, CHIP!”
Chip’s hand spasmed in his surprise. The trigger gave way. The next thing he knew, he was enveloped in a rose-tinted cloud, his panicked eyes staring right into Gill’s.
Gill looked at the bottle in his hand, then at the pink mist. “What—?”

But to William, it was deafeningly loud, to him it was the only thing he could hear, the only thing he wanted to hear. His words glided like honey, smooth and sickeningly sweet as William grinned, looking like a fool.
