Or: Atsumu spends his time trying not to argue with refs, so Kiyoomi decides to do it on his behalf. Atsumu copes about as well as you think he might.

Atusmu looked, and there was no one in the gym. He pulled out his phone while he was waiting for the rest of the team. He had to tell his best friend off for what he had been hearing. He called Oikawa, and he answered quickly.
“You know,” He said, getting down to tie his shoe, since the lace had come undone. In doing that, he had missed everyone quietly walking into the gym. “You really exhibit fatherless behavior.”
“Yeah, and you have mommy issues.” Oikawa says, shrugging. “What’s next, you’re going to say that the sky is blue? Also say hi, you're on speaker.”

But he watches Atsumu closer, realizes that his hair lays against the pillow like that because it’s limp and frail, that his skin is so pale not because he’s an angel, but because he’s sick and hurt and dying, and the words die on his tongue.
He decides it’s not fair to ask Atsumu to stay. Not when he can't even stay with him.
or, Sakusa is an angel of death and Atsumu lives a lifetime of close calls
