Summary
It's winter, and a little colder than years before, since the end of The Flags. And it's been a bit since Double Black became the uncrowned horrors of the Port Mafia.
But are they on good terms? Such questions are only up for them to answer, whether their feelings towards each other were hatred, affection, or simply annoyance. Or perhaps none at all, but that's hardly anyone's business anyway.
But some of the simplest things are those that take place on mundane mornings; a hopeful start, and perhaps a meaningful end to an era. A day where the sun is out, snow has fallen, birds sing, and laughter can be heard from both friends and foes alike. Some things, however, just aren't as simple.
Friendship doesn't come cheap, after all. It takes work, and sacrifice, and the effort to keep something so important within one's grasp at all costs. In fact, it would seem more than most realize just how hard it is for even the best of friends, the ones with the greatest bonds of affection between them, to let go of the past and look forward the future.
But there is time, and time is always kind to children, after all.

Chuuya is certainly bored.
Sipping tea in a warm afternoon alone isn't what he expected ever since he joined those wild leather-bound folk that was the 'new' generation of mafiosos, but here he was.
He wonders how long it would take for Albatross to show up at their apartment complex, and just how loud would he be.
Going on about being best friends and all that.
And eventually, he does show up, but it's not the way Chuuya expected.

“Sign right here.” Yosano demanded. “Please.”
Fukuzawa picked up the papers, flipping them to the front.
“Wait! What are you doing?!” Yosano quickly snatched the papers away from.
He raised an eyebrow at her. “I’m reading them over?”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” she rushed, absolutely not suspiciously at all. “You can just sign them without reading them.”
‘I’m pretty sure I should read documents before I sign them,” Fukuzawa said, sounding somewhat amused.
“Uhhh…” Time seemed to freeze as Yosano saw Fukuzawa begin to look back at the documents. And then she panicked. “I’m going to go now!”
Before Fukuzawa could read what the documents were about, she clutched them close to her chest and quickly hurried out of the room before things could get too awkward.
Or: Ranpo and Yosano try to trick Fukuzawa to sign adoption papers without him finding out until they’re already in effect. This goes as well as it could be expected.
Or or: the author decided there was A) a lack of fics where Fukuzawa adopts his kids, B) a lack of fics where Ranpo and Yosano are chaotic teen sibling, and C) a lack of fics where Fukuzawa has a heart-to-heart with BOTH Yosano and Ranpo
