Summary

Five couldn’t move, standing by and watching complacently, as his younger brother grabbed him roughly by the front of his sweater. It was like he was watching a play he wasn't apart of, yet that was definitely his small body being tossed over the balcony. No doubt, Luther thought that he would just jump out of the way. He'd always jumped out of the way, sometimes without even meaning to, but now visions of a world on fire flashed through his head as his body plummeted towards the ground. Seemingly, he was tumbling through the air in slow motion and absentmindedly, Five wondered if this was his life flashing before his eyes. All he saw was the desolate world he’d left behind weeks ago.
When Five hit the ground, it was with a sickening cracking noise.
“Oh my god, Luther, what have you done?”

The warrior falters at that unexpectedly, his other eye snapping open and his expression twisting in bewilderment, first at the fact that the other has been keeping close enough tabs on him to know that, and second—

Out of the corner of his eye, the warrior caught a flash of a blue cape and a pair of yellow eyes as a figure slid behind one of the surrounding pillars, swathed in the shadow.
He bit down a hiss. So he is going to eavesdrop. Tsk.
Not too long ago, maybe half an hour at most, Galacta Knight had been flying a certain pesky knight back to the castle after getting the promise of receiving a tour of the place. He’d be honest for once, he had been looking forward to it just a bit, but no sooner had he touched down, releasing his grip on the other, had the guard commander—Waddle Doo, had been his name—found them and passed on a message. The King of Dreamland wanted to see Galacta Knight.
Meta Knight even had the audacity to nod and then silently walk off in the other direction, pretending all the while that he wasn’t going to spy as the winged warrior was led away by Waddle Doo, and off to the throne room.

Or, Galacta Knight attempts to settle into life in Dreamland, and Meta Knight attempts to solidify a friendship.
It's all easier said than done.

Summary
Something flashed in the corner of his eye, and the knight’s vision snagged on a single, white feather fluttering in the cool air. Meta Knight paused, gently catching it with a cloaked hand.
Upon closer inspection, the feather was not actually white, but a soft lilac, and strangely familiar. Puzzled, he tried to think if any of the passing celebration floats had used them, turning the fluffed plume over to inspect it.
A sudden flash of red eyes and golden horns skittered through his mind, and the knight stilled, a sharp coil of dread winding in his stomach for the first time since Nightmare’s defeat.
No… it’s not possible. Galacta Knight was resealed after I won my challenge, the stars themselves know Nova would never have let him out again, he thought.
But another lavender feather, the start of a trail now, lay resting on the stone path ahead of Meta Knight, too obvious to be coincidence. The feeling of dread only worsened.
The temporal warrior was here, in Dreamland, in Cappy Town, and everyone else was none the wiser.

Or, Galacta Knight wants a rematch, and Meta Knight wants this resolved before anyone else finds out.
Neither goes to plan.

Summary
this takes place after the events of the anime. i've affectionately nicknamed it the "anti-fix it fic". the title comes from 'ventilator blues' by the rolling stones. the bebop crew tries to cope in the aftermath of spike's death.

You can't afford to be the sentimental type in this kind of life, and if you're senseless enough to still get sentimental, you better hope you can hide it well.
It's not too hard to track everyone else down. Faye, and he'll never understand her, almost seems like she wants to be found, even after everything that happened right there at the end.
He really doesn't like calling it that because it's a shit ending anyways and all the rest of them are still right in the middle of another god-awful story. It's all too moralistic and nobody learns anything from it while they're in the thick of it.
He finds her where she usually is: gambling away her troubles and a whole lot more than she bargained for in some high end casino. She made it farther than he was expecting, but she still left a trail.
