That’s the reason I called you here today,” Quackity produced a small stack of papers with a flourish. “I have it all laid out here.”
Wilbur propped up his head with his hand. Quackity’s eyes traced his movements as his other hand reached forward to grab the papers. “And here I thought you just wanted to see my charming face.”
“I see your face plenty,” Quackity smirked, leaning forward and staring intensely. Despite having the papers– the contract– in front of him, Wilbur refused to break eye contact with Quackity. Truth be told, he did think it was strange that he wanted to meet him. Usually all conversation attempts were met with threats and thrown objects. Not that Wilbur minded, of course.
“Well, I’m flattered, truly, but I wouldn’t want to inherit a nation if you seem so eager to give it away,” Wilbur pushed up his red rimmed glasses.
“Oh, I’m not giving up anything,” Quackity’s smile turned dangerous. “Just simply adding to my collection.”

Summary
He thought he had severed the ties between them when he fled L’Manberg with Tommy, he thought he had abandoned fatherhood. He thought he had willingly given Fundy away, let him go, let him side with Schlatt if that was who he wanted to pick. He thought whatever remained of their family had died on the day Fundy cheered in the crowd as Wilbur disappeared into the night, death on his tail.
Then why did it hurt so much to see Schlatt take care of him? Why does it hurt now, to see it again with Quackity? Why does Fundy keep picking his enemies?
Why can’t Wilbur just be happy that his son isn’t alone?
Or: After his resurrection, Wilbur has no idea how he should feel about Fundy or how his son feels about him. They share a moment outside Las Nevadas, trying their best to figure it out.

“Back off.” Despite wanting to, Tim can’t hide the fact that his voice shakes, but suddenly his grip doesn’t. “Jason, I swear—”
“You gonna point that thing at me? You don’t even know what to do with it.”
The older boy is too close. Far too close. Tim flinches back, raises the gun, and without thinking about it presses it under Jason’s jaw.
All of a sudden, neither of them can breathe.
Jason’s eyes harden, glancing at the finger hovering over the trigger.
After a moment, Jason speaks up, almost softly— with how close they are, his voice doesn’t need to carry far. His voice goes flat. “This is hilarious.” The tone says otherwise.
