Summary
An ancestor of the Royal family, who founded the city of Canterbury, struck a bargain with the Black Dragon long ago. The old King claimed it was prophesied that a Dragon Bride would be born into the Royal family. If the Dragon gave the city and its people the eternal blessing of a Dragon, a powerful blessing thats believed to be a seal of protection and prosperity, then in return that Princess would be promised in marriage to the Black Dragon.
That story had long been forgotten, and Dragons had not been seen in years.
Until 10 years ago when the Black Dragon, returned again, appearing out of the blue and attacking the capital city of Canterbury for its promised bride.
It vowed to return in exactly ten years time, to collect the Princess when they were of age to marry. If his demands weren’t met he’d raze the city to the ground.Bookmarked by EdainMorgan

A year after her wedding, Maxi has yet to hear from her husband and starts to lose hope she'll ever get out of Croyso Castle.
Meanwhile, Gabel Lachzion is sent to Drachium Palace to coordinate the arrival of the king's soldiers in Lexos Mountains. On his way back, he decides to stop by Croyso Castle to try and convince his Lady to stop rejecting her husband's demands and move to Anatol.
After discovering the truth of the Lady's life in her father's castle, Gabel impulsively promises to keep her secret. Only after being back to Lexos Mountains does he realise he'll have to lie to his commander and let the other knights disrespect her to honor his promise.
