Summary
Monkey D. Luffy leaves the world in a way completely different from how he lived in it.
There was no grand battle, no opponent strong enough to finally defeat him... Unless one would count life itself.
Perhaps it is simply the curse of the Pirate King, to die young. Perhaps the universe decided this is the price for reaching the mythical last island. Perhaps Luffy has always been meant to leave at this time, and his achievements meant nothing in the face of that.
He leaves his crew behind, but they can't begrudge him. Luffy hates being alone, they all know that; As much as they hate losing him, it is better than if he has to lose them first.
Or: Luffy dies. The world has to cope.

Izou, who was drinking while listening, coughed hard at the bold statement Ace just made.
“You don’t want to make him the King of the Pirates?” He repeated, astonished.
“Nah, he’s not gonna be the King.”
To Marco, it seemed that Ace didn’t see the problem while making that statement in front of the crew.
“Why?” Izou choked.
“Because my older brother is gonna be King of the Pirate.” Ace replied with a proud smile.
That was the first time they heard of an older brother. They didn't ask further.

Ace shouted, driven by that fierce need to protect what he didn’t quite understand. Dadan argued, her complaints masking a worry that was choking her. Garp spoke from the pedestal of his own certainties, his voice ringing with the tone of a man who had never known doubt. Sabo threw words into the air, desperately trying to lighten an atmosphere that weighed like lead.
Everyone was talking. No one was listening.
In the eye of the storm, Luffy felt himself fading. He grew smaller, invisible, sinking into a space where his silence was swallowed by everyone else’s volume. No one noticed he was drowning right there at the surface.
Then, Garp’s voice cut through the chaos like a blade:
"If you could just behave like a normal child, Luffy... maybe Dragon wouldn't have left."The silence that followed wasn't peaceful; it was devastating.
Sometimes the world doesn't break from blows or thunder.

But, maybe his life will get better when the protectors and Demigods of Amphoreus, the Chrysos Heirs themselves, come into his life, greeting him with completely open arms, carrying a past that he slowly discovers for himself through dreams and memories alike.

“Death.” The boy says and Death’s smiles, all sharp teeth and glowering eyes that instil fear in everything living. The humans who had summoned him before this child had all but cowered in his presence, words failing them as they trembled in fear before him. But, this child held no such regard. The boy’s green eyes gleamed with fascination.
“Yes, child. You have summoned me.” Death acknowledges, and the boy’s eyes widen at the confirmation. “What is it that you want from me?”
He can already make the assumptions. From all his years of existing, Death knows what mortals want from him. Vitality, longevity and power. He peers down at the small frame of the young boy, who seems to hesitate momentarily, before taking in a deep breath.
The boy looks up at him, his eyes determined and Death wonders what the boy plans on asking him. Would it be wealth, riches, fantasies? The boy opens his mouth and speaks,
“Will you be my friend?”
“…Huh?”

Adrien meets Plagg when he was a child. This changes everything and yet nothing at all.
