Summary
Not perfectly round, but perfectly cut, the edges only so slightly frayed like the ends of an old blanket, yet smooth and silky in a way that only flesh could be. When he leaned in closer to it he could see the tiny striations that knitted it together layer upon layer, like little bricks piled high into a mighty castle. A juicy pop of red color, ribboned by milky streams of fat and sinew, perfumed with a metallic chill like the inside of the freezer. The more he leaned into it the greater its freshness hit him; raw, inviting, no stink of blood or animalistic musk.
Just meat.
Pure, untarnished meat.
He didn't know why, but Shaun suddenly felt an overwhelming compulsion to lift the steak up from the board, astonished by how it yielded to his touch like a yearning lover yet held firm in its shape when he tried to rip it in half with his bare hands.
Damp against his palms like a tongue, tasting him.
He couldn't resist tasting it back.
