"You want a smoke?" John asked, Javier deciding to nod.
He hesitated, before handing the lit cigarette to Javier. The man took it from him, placing it between his lips and taking a puff with eyes closed shut. He sighed, smoke leaving his mouth in an odd circle.
John noticed how he looked different than when he had first seen him. His eyes weren't as sunken into his skull, his cheeks not as hollow, his collarbones barely poking out from underneath his skin. Javier didn't look so sick anymore. That's what a consistent diet did to some folk. And those rags he had been wearing had been replaced with some proper, clean clothes; a shirt lent to him by Dutch–though a little oversized on him– and some pants. He had shaved too, though his mustache looked a little weird to him, and had tied his long, dark hair behind him.
"Gracias…" Javier smiled, handing the cigarette back to John, who shrugged and took a puff himself. "What your… nombre.. ah, name is?"
"Marston. John." John told him, realizing how he knew Javier's name, but the man didn't know his.
"Javier Escuella." Javier held his hand out. John paused, before taking it, shaking his rather warm hands.
