Summary
Turtle liked the emptiness and vastness of the ocean. Out there, even though he was alone, he could be himself. Those delicate pieces of his existence—the fears that rattled his bones and wept like waterfalls—became nothing more than circumstantial quirks. His character came from the background and miraculously stumbled into the main role. Turtle, against all odds, felt free. As if he could be more than what he was, without having to become something bigger than who he was.
(or: turtle didn’t recognize dragons the way he should, let alone himself.)

And there was a particular pair of hands she had in mind. A child's pair of green hands, already dexterous despite his young age. Those hands were adept at teasing blocks from behind couch cushions and scrawling the correct answers on every assignment, but they grasp at other hands far too often.
He'd require testing. Refinement. But she'd spent so long as just whispers in ears, she could sink a few years into training her hands. She'd hedged enough bets. It was time for an investment.

Starflight's whole loving war-criminal family is here - Fierceteeth, Strongwings, Mastermind, young nieces and nephews he hasn't properly met - but, of course, spending a holiday you know nothing about with your famously short-tempered, fiercely-protective-of-Nightwing-culture half-sister is anything but simple.
Luckily, among the chaos, Starflight's mother is here to explain and comfort from beyond the grave - and, all the while, it seems like Fatespeaker might be hiding a pretty big surprise from him, too.

Oisin pondered for a moment. In a perfect world, he would leave a clue on purpose that Adaine would be able to figure out without any help due to her own intelligence and remarkable ability to research, and she would be massively impressed at Oisin's efforts nonetheless, and she would know that Kipperlilly helped him probably, but it would be endearing to her that he asked for help to make it perfect, and she would be proud of herself for figuring it out so quickly because she saw Oisin as an equal or as a rival, and she would engage in this weird cat-and-mouse game and leave him a note as well in similarly hidden fashion, or ask him out. Or something.
He then remembered this is real life, not some stupid tabletop roleplaying game, and that he just watched too many shitty romance movies with Ivy over the years.
