Summary
Shaking hands tugged the collar of his ratty trenchcoat higher, fingers already numb from the pouring rain soaking him to the bone.
The mud tacked onto his boots forced him to skid, a grunt leaving him as he was sent tumbling to the ground. “Shit!-” his palms ached from colliding onto the rough tarmac, tiny stones lodging themselves into his skin.
He felt heat rush to the wounded area, a low throb working its way through his hands as he felt a familiar ache in his ankle. It was the same pain that taunted him when he twisted his leg during gym.
Mud coated the palms of his hands as he scrambled to push himself back up, ignoring the sting in his leg as he limped forwards, trying to move as quickly as possible.

Wilbur runs away and manages to seek refuge in a diner. The owner lets him stay but Wil can't help but feel that he's a little... off.

Summary
Wilbur and Techno stared blankly at their little brother. They’ve never had a Papa, only a Mama. What had gotten into him? “Tommy, you’re a magic bird. We don’t have--”
“No, no! I found him. He’s up there!” Tommy pointed to the roof of the cavern, alluding to the mortal realm. “Mama’s so sad because she doesn’t have him.”
“Oh,” said Techno, brandishing his scythe from thin air. “So we need to go back and collect him? Why didn’t you say--”
“No!” Tommy screeched. “Not dead! Alive! Mama wants him alive.”

Summary
Techno was the cause of all his kingdom's tragedy. He had to be. He was cursed from birth and now they were all facing the consequences of keeping him.
Anyone placed in charge of his care always met a gruesome end, whether it was poison or trampling. So now he’s terrified. He’s so very scared because now it’s his uncle's turn to take care of him, the only member of his family who ever showed him any kindness at all.
His uncle Phil who fought for his place to even be crowned, saying that he wasn’t cursed because of his red eyes and pink hair. Uncle Phil who had a son and a loving wife already, ones who Techno desperately didn’t want to doom like he did every other caretaker.
So no matter how safe he felt with him, no matter how much he longed to run into his arms and have someone to take care of him again, he ran away.

Crown prince Techno thinks he's cursed and, after the unfortunate deaths of everyone he gets handed off to, he refuses to let the only family members who ever really cared for him meet the same fate.

Summary
‘You don’t have to stay with me, mate.’ Phil had said to him one afternoon, sipping at yet another glass of water Wilbur had given him.
‘I’m offended Phil, you don’t enjoy my company?’ He teased, cutting up a sandwich he had made for Techno and turning to face the elytrian.
‘You know I do...’ He said fondly, and Wilbur simply chuckled in reply. ‘But you should do things for yourself instead of looking after me.’
‘So, you’re telling me that if I wasn’t here then you wouldn’t go back to your office and not take a break to eat?’ He raised his eyebrows, already knowing the answer but still revelling in the satisfaction of Phil’s sigh. ‘Hmm, that’s what I thought.’--
Or, three times Wilbur helped Tommy, Techno, and Phil and three times they returned the favour. (Word count is heavily based on those last three but what can I say, it's a Wilbur centric fic.
