I know I've mentioned it in a few of my past stories that Jason and Tim weren't my fav characters, even if I do include them at times.
However, this story does focus more on Jason and his issues with Bruce.

Summary
This story refers to a character in my previous work: Mascarade (https://archiveofourown.org/works/57485092/chapters/146254717).
It's not quite a sequel so could be read just by itself. If you haven't read Mascarade and want too, please do so.
Having said that, a reminder that d'Artagnan's age is somewhere between seventeen and eighteen. King Louis is around twenty. Lt. Dashiell is around twenty-four to twenty-five.
The story basically will revolve around a so-called good friend of Richelieu's turning out to be a double agent. Shudder the thought!
The First Minister will be bringing Lieutenant Dashiell and Charles d'Artagnan along for the ride.See notes at bottom

Summary
We start with some members of the JL being held prisoner by a few Talons. A rescue takes place along with a small surprise gifted to Nightwing, courtesy of said Talons. Basically this story deals with the Court of Owls having cloned Dick Grayson and how he, and his family, deal with a tiny version of the acrobat who appears to not have been turned into one of the Court's soldiers.
Also in this one Bruce actually adopted Dick and is a good Bat dad.FYI: Everyone who gives me kudos, including guests, are thanked in the comments.

Translates to: Masquerade: A Royal Mystery.
This comes from me reading too many cozy mystery stories. Ha!
Playing fast and loose again with history as I once again bring you a young King Louis and his best friend Charles d'Artagnan. Louis is about twenty years old in this and Charles somewhere between seventeen/eighteen.
Now Marie de' Medici was exiled by Louis when he'd been only sixteen. I've thrown all that out and we'll pretend all is normal between them, whether she appears in this or not.
Our young Gascon has lived with the de Trevilles after the death of Alexandre d'Artagnan. In this story however Alexandre passed away when Charles had been quite young. Therefore, majority of raising him fell to Jean-Armand who had known the boy's father well. I've had Treville be Charle's uncle in another of my stories before but never included his wife Anne.
Again, not sure where I'm going with this but thought it'd be fun.
Also, rated it teen & up as I'm never sure how much violence I may put in the story.As always, if this image disappears, Postimages where I have them uploaded may be down, etc.

This story isn't really a sequel, though I guess you could say it is in a way since some of my OC characters from The Cardinal's Gambit may either pop up in this story or be mentioned. None of which would prevent you from just reading this new story by itself. However, if you want to discover where d'Artagnan met his new friend then you definitely have to read The Cardinal's Gambit. Not necessary though if you don't want to, as he wasn't featured very much in it until the latter chapters.

Nearly every time lately when I turn my car radio on Harry Stiles song 'Late Night Talking' is being played. Today while listening to it this little idea stuck in my head and wouldn't play dead.
