Summary
It was good to be the guy who made things happen, who didn’t pass through life without touching or changing anything around him. That was the problem with his parents. They’d done everything that had been expected of them and gotten the big prize: marriage, a good income, a nice house, kids. And neither of them seemed happy. Nate wasn’t sure when his mother had started existing in a cloud of irritation, or when his father’s calm demeanor had turned apathetic. Maybe they’d always been that way, and he’d been too young to see it.
But Nate was going to make plans. He was going to push himself to the limit, making his body stronger and more efficient on the track, and his mind sharper and tougher everywhere else. He was going to run, although he wasn’t sure where yet.
Nate Wheeler, the brains of Steve Harrington's clique, thinks he has everything figured out. Then Joanna Byers, the weirdest girl at Hawkins High (or possibly anywhere), comes into his life.

“Don’t you remember?” Lucas asked softly. “When we were kids? Like, sixth grade. We all said we’d be in each other’s weddings.” He chuckled. “And Mike called dibs on being my best man, and then you and Dustin started freaking out, because you were both gonna call dibs, so I said you could all do it. Remember? I need all my best men.”
Will puffed out his cheeks, running a hand through his hair. He already hadn’t lived up to that twice now. He’d missed Dustin’s wedding, he hadn’t even been invited to Mike’s (not that he’d expected to be.) This was his last shot.
And something about it seemed final. If he missed this, then that was it. He had no doubt they’d still try to reach out, but it wouldn’t be the same. He would’ve broken something he couldn’t fix.
He sighed.
“Okay.”
Ten years after the end of the world, Lucas and Max get married.

Unfortunately though, Liam’s had to deal with his bullshit for years. Being one of the best means you have to deal with the best, and despite all his posturing and the general consensus that everything that tumbles out of Theo’s mouth is just utter shit, he is the best the navy has to offer.
(or, alternatively: Liam realises that Theo has the emotional maturity of a pre-teen boy on a playground, and that he has spent the last ten years pulling pig-tails instead of expressing real, human emotions.)

"Anyway," Cody adds, "Stop changing the subject and tell me about fucking Vos."
It's not quite the tone of voice he uses to snap orders in a fire fight, but it's close enough Obi-Wan almost answers him automatically. Then the meaning of the words registers, and he scowls instead.
"Vos," Obi-Wan says, "is a loudmouth braggart with no sense of decorum, and his willingness to share sordid details with anyone who asks is not–"
"All due respect, sir," Cody cuts in, somehow twisting the honorific into something that makes Obi-Wan want to drop to his knees, "In just over fourteen hours we're landing in what is going to be an utter osik'la disaster, and you're the only person on board I don't outrank, and I just had to listen to Fox wax secondhand lyrical about how good you are with your mouth when I can't even bite him for it."
Obi-Wan’s gaze drops, unbidden, to the curve of Cody’s mouth. Cody drags his lower lip between his teeth in a move that should not work nearly as well as it does.

Steve is super gay. A really big fairy. How this didn't occur to him earlier is simply baffling. The worst part? He didn't have to just worry about people finding about his fat (and frankly humiliating) crush on Sodapop, he's half Mexican, an "alien." So if he could at least keep one of his secrets secret, he's jolly.
What sucks even more than that? He's always listening to those lovey-dovey Spanish songs and thinking of Soda. Of his mother, too, which kinda delutes the romance of it.
So it's no shock when those cats are let jump straight out of the bag, with less people leaving his than he expected...

“You shouldn’t be showin’ your face ‘round these parts. Not after what your Greaser friends did last night,” Brill hisses.
“Maybe he has a death wish,” Chet adds.
“Yeah. You got a death wish, Greaser?”
“Pershing Park’s Greaser territory,” Two-Bit replies, albeit a little strained under the force of the hands on him. And he knows he should keep his mouth shut; Socs like to hide switchblades in the pocket of their slacks and sport class, rings that can leave a nasty scar with enough force. One wrong word and he’s dead meat, but Two-Bit can’t help but run his mouth, “Someone should’ve reminded Bob Sheldon that last night.”
There’s a subtle shock at Two-Bit’s quip that presents itself in a spell of defining silence before both Chet and Brill’s faces twist up in sheer rage. With a grunt, they hoist Two-Bit from the ground and splay him across the hood of a car parked on the curb. Hands return to his body before he can try and escape, holding him down by the legs and shoulders.
He’s utterly immobile.
