    He hadn't expected to be trapped under the church, listening to it burn down as he and the other vampries were safely contained beneath it, left to slowly desiccate as the air ran out. Honestly, Elijah would've preferred the fire to this.

Of course, things can't go right when his foster son Rafael, whilst Elijah's away on a business trip, activates his werewolf curse, and has to be saved from their neighbours and their exorcism by the Salvatore Acadaemy.

    And of course, Elijah doesn't learn about this until after he's back in the country, one foster son already in the academy, the other being pushed out and resisting the compulsion to head back to Elijah's home.
