Elijah Mikaelson, formally Elijah Mikjállsdóttir, was one of the oldest vampires around. An Original vampire, in fact. And It was whispered that her retained fertility was a result of her status as an Original, as opposed to any other vampire. Not even those down her sireline had retained their fertility the same way. Of course, it was a mixture of her magic-using brothers being overprotective of her pregnancy, and pure luck that her mother had acted when she did, that had resulted in Elijah's children after her family were turned into vampires.
But never let the truth get in the way of a good story, and some thousand years since losing her first spouses, and carrying 9 pregnancies to term, Elijah has come across a child that looks very similar to her late wife, with a few years added...

Elijah doesn't regret running from her siblings again, not when staying ensured that her twins would end up like their long dead older brother, but she would like it to be known that hiding in a cabin, in the middle of winter, with no humans likely to stumblr across them anytime soon, was not her idea of a good time. Especially not when she was reliant on animal blood for the winter, since her twins were still depending on her for sustance.
