Glinda feels a little breathless; she forces an easy smile. “You’re just returning the favour.”
“Except I’m not bringing you to life,” Elphaba points out.

Summary
Instead of Shane, it is Ilya who suffers a concussion during the Boston-Montreal game in April 2017. Dazed and agitated, Ilya briefly starts speaking and responding only in Russian and the medics can’t calm him down. Luckily, Shane started studying Russian after Ilya spoke to him in Russian on the phone from Moscow. For no particular reason. Certainly not because he’s fallen in love with Ilya Rozanov.
In Montreal with lingering concussion symptoms, Ilya is advised not to fly home for a few days, and the hospital won’t release him without assurances that he has someone to stay with him until his symptoms improve. Luckily, Shane conveniently has a condo in Montreal no one knows about and a few days before he has to travel again.
But Ilya’s symptoms don’t resolve after a few days. Which is okay; Shane can handle it. He can take care of Ilya, study Russian, lead his team into the playoffs, and keep Ilya’s continued presence in Montreal a secret. He can do everything, no problem. He is Shane Hollander after all.

When the 3 a.m. knock sounds on her apartment door, Wen Qing assumes one of two things: it’s Wei Wuxian or it’s someone that has been drawn into the orbit of his personal chaos and they’re knocking on his behalf. A quick glance through the eyehole validates her latter assumption; Wei Wuxian is nowhere in sight, but the blurry visage of Jiang Yanli, his adoptive sister, is staring back at her, wide-eyed and fragile in the pre-dawn mist.
Wen Qing opens the door. “What has Wei Wuxian done now?”
Yanli stutters out, “N-nothing, he’s fine,” and then immediately bursts into tears.

Jiang Cheng is playing this time, and it seems like it's going to take a long time, no matter how easy it should be for him. But he has his boyfriend and his viewers there to help him out.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Emily Dickinson's house, where a bought a book of letters she wrote to Susan. Between the book and Vita and Virginia, my mind is filled with the enchanting letters exchanged by women in the 18th/early 19th centuries, and that was fertile ground for this odd little fic to be born.
The structure is a bit different. Each chapter will be a letter from either Clarke or Lexa, with occasional comments from our Heteronormitavely Blinded Historian™. So chapters will be short and provide little snippets into their lives, rather than the full story. I hope that you, like me, will enjoy letting your mind wander where it will. Not really sure where this journey will take us but pretty stoked to experiment with this kind of writing. I hope a few of you enjoy it too.
Shoutout to the lovely @anddante for letting me ramble about my convoluted ideas.
Disclaimer: I've included some dates to provide an idea of the timeline, but this is set in a purely imaginary world with its own towns, politics, and wars. I have made no attempt to reconcile them with actual historical events. I am going for the style and general feel this era had to it, not historical accuracy.

In order to save A-cheng's life, Jiang Yanli makes a list of all the things that hinder her, and shatters them with a trained smile.
She'll be the first to admit that falling in love with her brother's doctor was probably not the best idea, but it was the best thing that could have ever happened to her.
A story in which Jiang Yanli learns to trust in herself, and Wen Qing learns to trust in others.

Yuuri doesn’t stop. He’s made that mistake before – why would Victor Nikiforov know who Yuuri is this year any more than he did last year? Yuri Plisetsky is debuting as a senior, after all, and might be here at the Cup of China to support his rinkmates.
It may be the sound of Yuuri’s name on Victor’s lips, but there is no way Victor is calling for him.

He notices a gentle crease between Lan Zhan’s eyebrows, at first, before he—and again this is a surprise—opens his mouth to take the bite, lips brushing against Wei Ying’s fingertip. Wei Ying wrenches his hand away, nearly dropping the plate. It’s clearly been too long since he last slept with anyone if he’s having impure thoughts about his coworkers eating food at 3pm on a Wednesday.
