“We were close. We were emotionally close. We were-” Nick gulps, “We were physically close. I guess we were what you could call friends with benefits. But I should have married him. That’s my biggest regret.”

On Charlie Spring's 21st birthday he goes missing and a month later he is presumed dead by the city of Densole. Due to corruption in the Densole Police Station, the Kent Police station reopens the case and starts to reinvestigate it, launching everything Nick thought he knew about the death of his best friend away.

"I don't get the whole anti-nerd thing, to be honest. I’d choose a nerd over a jock any day. Nerds are adorable and super smart and witty and–”
“Okay, one, you’re describing me, not all nerds," Charlie interjects. "And two, you’re only saying that because you’re a jock. A jock wouldn’t go for a jock, the same way a nerd wouldn’t go for a nerd.”
Nick scoffs. “That sounds false because you literally have me saved in your phone as Rugby Lad (Derogatory).”

Summary
“Pardon, I think –”
The man looks up from his camera and peels up one side of his earphones. Surprise flashes across his face – just as a brief peek of the sun through the clouds outside flashes a column of gold across his dark hair – and Elle smiles her friendly smile.
“I think I’m in 20A.”
He doesn’t move, doesn’t indicate that he’s heard – just stares with his mouth opening and closing – until Elle shifts her weight on her feet. And then it’s like a spell breaks and he quickly launches himself out of his seat, almost ramming into her in his haste to get up, before quickly clutching his devices to his chest.
“Sorry. Please go ahead,” he says, gesturing to their row, and “Shit–” yelps as his phone drops on his foot.
