You are a feared figure on the battlefield in the endless war between humans and monsters. You work as an apprentice under the arch mage, forced to do his bidding of destroying and collecting monster souls for his plan of finally ending the war with humans reigning victor. A series of events lead you to a world entirely different from yours, and you're forced to adapt while trying to find a way to fix your dilemma. You try your best to survive in your new environment, but a bunch of skeletons who keep appearing out of nowhere seem hellbent on making that very difficult for you.

Summary
Not all monsters were forced underground. Multiple monster species were able to pass as human or at least hide away from the mages that ended the war. Over the years they faded away to human myth, along with the mages, but secretly they were thriving in their own communities. When the underground monsters were freed and integrated with human society, the surface monsters had a decision to make: do they come out of hiding and stand side by side with the underground monsters? Or do they stay out of the spotlight as they’ve done for so long?
Reader is a surface monster. She's on the run from her former clan and decides to travel to Ebott City to plead to King Asgore to become one of his citizens so that she'll be able to easier hide from the group searching for her. She ends up under close watch by the skeletons until they can trust her to not cause problems in their city. Reader is named, though her name changes in chapter 2. She has a physical description as well, so I guess she's more of an OC but the story's still told in 2nd person.

With the autonomy Sans was afforded by monster society, royal guards and police never suspected the mansion was where monsters were being kept imprisoned after being kidnapped. A bloody and violent escape attempt finally exposed the secret. Now all the monsters imprisoned are free, including the skeletons who were chained for two years.
You want nothing to do with it, but there was one skeleton you did care for- Mutt. His brother was dead and who knew what traumas he faced in the mansion.
