Summary
James has been in love with Regulus since his fifth year.
Regulus has been in love with James since his fourth year.
Neither of them had acted on their feelings before Sirius ran away, causing Regulus to stop talking to all of the Marauders.
This stops when Regulus finds James in the Astronomy Tower late at night, sobbing over Sirius telling Snivellus all about Remus being a werewolf, which had led to the destruction of the Marauders as they were supposed to be.
OR
Regulus and James find comfort in each other during difficult times, and their love for each other changes all of their lives for the better.
