Xingqiu paused, glancing up at Chongyun from over the rim of his wine glass. Amber eyes studied him for a moment, before Xingqiu grinned. The tip of one sharp incisor poked through the break in his lips.
“Well, what’s good for your blood is good for you, too. Your blood is a part of you, after all."
Chongyun had thought that partnering with his mysterious and attractive classmate Xingqiu would help him get a passing grade and boost his GPA, and maybe even a date. He hadn't anticipated that arrangement would include having a vampire fuss over his health for "the good of his blood".

Xiao had a problem. Venti’s birthday was coming up. He had known about it since Venti had mentioned how close their birthdays were after finding out when Xiao’s was. He really didn’t want to spend Venti’s birthday the same way he usually spent his own. Xiao actually wanted to treat his new boyfriend to something he would enjoy. Something special.
The problem was, he had no idea what that special something would be.
Sometimes, the actual gift isn't what's important. It's Venti's birthday, and Xiao learns that sometimes, it really is the thought put into the gift that makes it special.

“What movie do you wanna watch?” Xiao asked, craning his neck as he called out to his boyfriend. Venti just shrugged, waving a hand at him.
“I told you, I’m good with anything! Just pick one, I’ll be there in a second!”
Xiao let out a sigh, before turning back to the TV. That was another thing about Venti; he wasn’t indecisive, but he had a very easygoing approach to their activities together, and was more often not free to just delegate the day’s activities to Xiao and go with whatever it was he would decide. It made plans easy, sure, but it was a little frustrating when he wanted Venti’s help on a decision. Kind of like now, as he cycled through the movies on his own. What kind of movies did Venti even like? They hadn’t really talked about movies, other than talking about how bad the Archon Wars movie was…

Xiao and Venti have been dating for three months. Xiao has been getting to know the happy-go-lucky musician, and learning more about him. Each activity they do together has led to another small discovery for Xiao to treasure.
Tonight's activity: movie night.

Summary
Durin has learnt a lot about "courting" and "romance" from observing humans. He still doesn't really understand much, but according to his observations, he definitely thinks there's something "going on" between Albedo and Wanderer. Durin decides it's up to him to do something about it, and begins his great undertaking of a certain task he's heard of: the art of "match making".
Albedo was speechless for a moment before finally speaking up. “Durin,” he asked nicely, “just how many people did you ask about this?”
Wanderer watched with apprehension as Durin mentally counted on his fingers, distinctly feeling the physical sensation of a rock dropping into his stomach, as Durin’s two hands ran out of fingers and he had to start fresh on his left hand once again.
“You know what? Don’t answer that. Don’t answer that question.” Wanderer snapped.

Summary
Durin approaches from the outside of what must have been a rib cage. The bones are even larger up close, as wide as a tree trunk, enough to wrap his entire armspan around it. He steps around to the middle, staring out from the belly of the beast; could the heart of such a creature even fit inside this tiny form? Wide-eyed and shivering, he pulls off a glove and presses his palm to a bone, rough and worn-down from years of harsh weather. He’s never seen the framework beneath his own skin. Might it look something like this, about a thousand times smaller?
“Durin,” Albedo calls, and suddenly his arms are braced around Durin’s shoulders like he’s consoling him. Does he need consoling? He doesn’t think he’s crying, but his cheeks are too numb with cold to tell.

He leaned over the wooden desk in his dorm room, shoulders hunched, as if making himself smaller might quiet the noise in his heart. The last paragraph she had written played over and over again in his mind, each word etched in fluid, looping handwriting. One line in particular stood out—one that made his heart swell with fragile hope and plummet with staggering dread all at once.
