It wasn’t uncommon to see wreckages of ships on planets, any number of things could happen when traversing through space, although around rockier planets like Cwyrll it was most likely that they had gotten caught in an asteroid storm. What Phil found unusual was that the wreckage was still aflame, it couldn’t have been crashed here more than thirty minutes; and yet no distress signal was sent out.

Techno hums, his hands slowly unwrapping from around his neck, though one lingers. He pushes his chin up with one hand, trialing a finger down his neck with the other. Tommy shivers at the touch, being reminded that the guy in front of him is a fucking vampire.
“Who, little witch?” He croons, goosebumps running up along his arms as Techno stops at his pulse point, no doubt feeling how fast his heart was beating.

But as he stands before Tommy, his shoulders shaking, and his eyes shining in the moonlight, he’s about as close as he gets to it. Tommy reaches up to grab his hand with his smaller ones. He hadn’t meant to make him sad.

How he didn’t mind dying if it meant Phil would be his family again.
“You’re not supposed to be this…this small. Is this how bad we failed you?” It’s barely said over a whisper. Tommy has to strain his ears to even make out the words.
“I promise Tommy,” Phil says his eyes growing a fire in them. “We’re going to make this right. We’ll make it go away.”
And under the snowfall of the arctic winds. Tommy can’t help but believe him.

Tommy, as always, woke up drowning.
Salt water filled his lungs as he struggled to the surface, half hoping he'd never make it. The too-hot air mixed painfully with freezing cold water as he peaked his head above the waves, clawing desperately towards what he hoped was the beach and hoped wasn’t in equal measure. The sand burnt his skin as he crawled onto it, what little was remaining of the rags that were his clothed sodden and ripping further. He vomited a mix of water and what little food he had left in his stomach onto the ground, gagging long after it was empty.
Merry fucking Christmas, he guessed.

“There’s a reason for that.” Tommy reminds him. “I’m just a fledgling. Even if I'm not being burned by the sun, even being in it through a barrier like a blanket or sheet still makes me weak! I won’t be able to escape!” Older vampires are still weak to the sun, but they at least gain some immunity. Fledglings don’t have any protections, they’re as frail as newborn babies.
“I know.” Dream nods grimly. “I’m going to have to take care of everything, and if something goes wrong you won’t be able to run. They’ll recapture you easily.”
Tommy thought for a second. “What about you?”
This does seem to throw Dream for a loop. “Pardon?”
“You said they’ll capture me,” Tommy reminds him, “But what about you?”
Dream doesn’t answer right away, but after a few seconds finally says “Let's make sure we don’t get to that point.”
“Dream…”
“We’re doing this tomorrow. There isn’t much time, and I need to get everything prepared.”
Or-Tommy is a vampire fledgling that's captured by a wealthy lord. Dream tries to help him escape, but this doesn't go as smoothly as they hoped.

“You’re going.” A pile of papers sat in front of Technoblade. Grading, he had said. Apparently he had foregone all of it while setting up Tommy’s room, and was still struggling to catch up on it now. He looked stressed. Which is why Tommy thought it was the perfect time to pester him.
“I’m not. You’ll drop me off at school and I’ll leave as soon as you drive away.”Healing isn't linear. Tommy still has trauma from living with Dream, and the longer he stays with Technoblade, the clearer it is to see.
