Summary
Tony had … mostly… given up the fantasy that Gibbs could or would ever settle into the role of surrogate father. So, it shouldn't have hurt so much to watch Gibbs willingly stretch himself with Damon Werth, the should-have-been-Silver-star-medal-recipient, now disgraced for having taken the illegal but clearly effective route of steroids to overcome an anemic disorder and become the marine's marine he had become.
He should have been used to life's little reality checks, by now. He really should have, but who was he kidding, no matter how much Tony had tried to convince himself that he had grown out of and beyond the need for it, something in Tony still wanted and needed acceptance and approval from his chosen father figure.
But if he hadn't been clinging so desperately to that last little pathetic illusion, it couldn't have gained the mental and emotional power to become his last straw - snapping before the narcotics easing his dislocated shoulder had even worn off. That may have been a blessing, though - in and of itself- allowing Tony to stay numb as he planned his exit from NCIS, the MRCT, and his wistfully-chosen, once-upon-a-time family.

Summary
Ok, so this both is and isn't part of For 'What it's Werth fic' as a chapter. I'm working on some plot points that hinge on several characters reconciling on what I've started thinking of as a 'BIG IF,' (or the 'this works IF...'), so I'd really like to get your feedback on a pre-series timeline for Tony that incorporates the 'Big IF'. After I get your feedback, the timeline will be kept at the end as an appendix of sorts, and I'll post the pending chapters with adjustments, if needed, based on your feedback. Where I could, I included research links and transcript quotes. Thank you in advance.

I attribute/blame this fic on covid and a fifth re-read of HellBells Tony’s Little Black Book series of series, but most especially the following passage (from Tony’s Little Black Book: Shades of Grey, chp 22):
“You know how you stop a monster?” Gibbs spoke softly, remembering having a similar conversation with Shannon during his darkest moments.
“How?” Tony asked because if he’d figured that out then he might have been able to deal with everything so much easier.
“You love them.”
It's a rare pair if you can't find it four pages deep in a google search, right?

Summary
the past five years, while I have always loved -- and continue to love -- reading and writing fan fiction, my life has been allowing me less and less time to write creatively or otherwise. That hasn't stopped my muses from throwing ideas my way on a steady basis, and I've tried to flesh many of them out as they've come to me, but it's become abundently obvious since last summer that I really don't have any time to productively write on any of the new ideas as they come up, and barely any time to finish out the stories already in progress.
To that end, in "Moments" I'll be posting the scenes/scenelets, ideas, and plots that I thought might be worth writing. Any post to "Moments" is up for adoption, but I would appreciate a note at some point when you post because I'd like to read how the final story turned out. (BTW, I promise to never criticize your interpretation of the 'prompt' or idea).
For the moment, though, my other wips aren't unless specified in their summaries. I'd like to see my way through those if I can.

Summary
