“I was checking on you, and you so happened to be doing that.” It wasn’t her best argument and it made her feel incredibly childish but she needed to say something. “Did you turn it off?” The undercurrent of ‘I know what you did’ is back and Nile presses her lips tight because she very much did not turn it off. She one hundred percent did the opposite of turning it off.

“Are you on a mission?” She says and her shoulders droop in disappointment. He steps forward, minimizing the space between them even more and curling his hands into fist to keep them at his side.
“There’s no more missions” he says, and her expression turns to one of confusion, “a lot has happened” he reiterates as if it would clear things up. He had a plan on how to explain but, for the first time since he was a youngling, he felt afraid that it wouldn’t end well. She was one of the few people that he had remaining in his life, and he did not want to lose her.
