Summary
When Hermione is sent back in time by Remus Lupin after the defeat of Voldemort, she is forced to experience life in the 1970's, all the while waiting and hoping to be returned to her older Sirius Black, who she hopes is waiting for her in the future.
**This is an exact replica of the original story, The Debt of Time, but in chronological order. Meaning the story begins in 1971 instead of 1997 and follows the timeline going forward from that point. It was suggested as a challenge to readers (by other readers) and eventually it became a thing that many did after binging the original version. After MidnightChardonnay put together a downloadable PDF of this version and CrazyKitCat made an ePub, it was suggested that I make it available here on Ao3 for everyone.**

“The first group I sent over made the Avengers uncomfortable by thanking them constantly and asking for autographs. The next group stole things to sell on ebay. The group after that didn’t even get through the front door because Stark’s security system found something in their background that we missed. The fourth group left traumatized after cleaning out Thor’s room, apparently the god had some beheaded poultry dripping blood into a bowl in there. Then after that every group I’ve left hasn’t lasted more than three days because of some problem or another. I’m pretty sure one of those assholes has made it a game to scare my workers away.”
“I don’t think you’re supposed to call the heroes of New York assholes.”
Or, cleaning up after the Avengers involves more than just getting blood stains out of the carpet and most of them can't take the heat. Thankfully the Savior of the Wizarding has spent the last decade cleaning up after Death Eaters, so she's up to the task. Nothing, not pranks, bird corpses, or unidentified slime will keep her from cleaning up.

Albus Dumbledore's magic faded from the world ten days after his funeral. Wards, bindings, traps, controls, glamours - the scope of the wizard's interference in the Wizarding World was greater than anyone realized. Obliviated memories returned. Powerful magic was released from its chains. Geasa were broken. Thankfully, some wizards were ready. Ready to step in. To step up. To offer help and hope to the teenager who had been weighed down with too many expectations and too little information.
His core and mind released from Dumbledore's bindings, Harry Potter would not flee, he wouldn't take off on a hopeless task handed out by a dead wizard. Severus Snape was released from Dumbledore's complete control. And Remus Lupin opened his eyes, embraced his power and oaths, and turned eagerly to protect and train his cub.

Summary

This leaves Arthur with a predicament... and an opportunity. A test. Three trials and three opportunities for Merlin to prove he doesn't deserve death. Arthur hopes he will pass them. Maybe then the image of Merlin's golden eyes will stop haunting him.
Merlin opened his mouth. A noise unlike any sound Arthur had ever heard escaped from it. Loud and rumbling and guttural, inhuman, and in no way, shape, or form could actually be coming from his manservant.
But it was. And Merlin was speaking.
"O drakon, e male so ftengometta tesd'hup'anankes! Erkheo!"
For a minute, there was complete silence—a silence in which Arthur just stared from behind a tree in an incomprehensive daze.
But then there was a sound. Both loud and forceful and... familiar.
The sound of flapping wings.
AKA an in-depth character study of Arthur. I do not endorse Arthur's actions, but this is what I think he'd do in canon. This was my season 3 prediction!

I thought I'd never enjoy a reader insert, but honestly, the story was so good, the insert - which usually throws me out of the suspension of disbelief became a character of her own in the best ways of truly original characters, so, sadly DESPITE MY OBVIOUS NAME, Y/n was just a lovely woman with an oddly spelled moniker who could do finer beadwork than I ever could.
Snob no more on self-insert fics. Consider me schooled.

One of THE best Harry Figures Out Dumbledore is Awful Early fics I've ever....includes so much of the greater cast and sorry, a fair amount of Molly/Ron/Hermoine/Dumbledore bashing.
Also it's nice to have the elder Weasley boys in play. Neville Longbottom is also amazing. ALMOST FINISHED.
