Summary

It both was and wasn’t strange to hold all that remained of Cynthia Weaver in her arms. This wasn’t the first memorial they’d had for a resident of Valhalla while Rose had worked there, and she wasn’t really presiding over it. They just didn’t have a table to set Cynthia down on out here.
Still, everyone knew that Rose and Cynthia were constantly bickering. The old woman had many peculiarities and tried to impose them on everyone at the home, and it was Rose’s job to make sure that everyone was comfortable. And to ensure the nursing home’s electric bill wasn’t astronomical.
Cynthia had been sweet and harmless once; it was really only at the end that things got crazy. It was sad that she didn’t have any family left to remember her, but a good chunk of the community had come out today anyhow. Rose told herself it was as much for the woman in her arms as for the Anderson brothers, though likely everyone present knew that wasn’t the case. They would remember her anyhow, as best as they could.
