It’d been almost a year since anyone had heard from the Cult of Rao. But, Lena muses as she watches a number of bonafide cultists bustle around her, it appears they're back. And somehow they have gotten things seriously twisted.
Okay. Not somehow. Even at the time, she’d known editing Supergirl’s Wikipedia page with exaggerated information about ancient Kryptonian heroic rites was inadvisable–but Nia had gotten her drunk and she’d been reading a lot of Kryptonian history to learn about their witches and it just…happened. She’d wanted to see how long until Kara noticed. It had been funny at the time.

Lena didn't think her research into Kryptonian witches would result in the Cult of Rao trying to burn her at the stake--but sometimes even geniuses are wrong.

It’s said so softly, so gently, and if this was one of Siobhan’s movies, they wouldn’t be talking about the money or drinks at all, they’d be talking about something clenching around Lena’s chest, something stifling, a loneliness that paralyzes her bones.
“Don’t blame me when you lose,” Lena says with a gentle upturn of her mouth, her voice low and crackling, leaving a fifty-dollar bill on the bartop before she turns away.

Summary
Kara can see a rocky outcropping housing a large cave, a bubbling stream, and a woman sitting with her feet in the water. Her mouth is moving in a perfect match to the uneven song. Her back is facing Kara, and Kara can hardly see any of her features on account of there being two large wings in the way.
Well. The wings are…unexpected.
Strangely though, the fact that this woman has wings is not the thing that pulls at Kara’s attention the most. This close, Kara can better hear the intricacies in her mournful, tuneless melody. The warm, colourful pockets of imperfection in her voice. Kara wants to nestle into them and just listen, on and on until the end of time.
"Beautiful," Kara whispers, the words leaving her without a thought.
The song ends in a discordant screech.

Kara holds the letter up for Alex to read. “They didn’t summon Supergirl,” she says. “They summoned Kara Danvers, freelance food critic and full-time reporter.”
