Summary
“I have devoted my life to undoing the great sin of my forebearer but I’m never seen as the solution, always as a reminder of the problem. They always need someone to blame.”
“Can you tell me any more about him?” Black eyes snap to hers. “Please.”
Instead of just flirting at the fountain, Alina starts asking questions. The Darkling is forced to reassess his plans and the Sun Summoner starts forging her own...
"Every time we gaze through a window, or set foot on a sandy beach, we are interacting with material made by exploding stars that burned millions of years ago."1
"Obsidian is a volcanic glass...hard, brittle, and amorphous; it therefore fractures with sharp edges."2

Summary
She will have one chance to do this. One chance to escape him, to earn more time to figure out how to defeat him. “You’ve shown me your hand,” she says, her core heating as she goes so bright that the tent’s occupants hit the ground to hide from it. The Darkling doesn’t, but she’s caught him unawares. His shadows are wild, uncontained as they attempt to thread through her light, to get to her. He’s scrambling. “Now I will show you mine.”
Then she sends a quick prayer to whoever is listening, brightens her light to the point where she can only hold it a few seconds without harming anyone, and bends it away. She only has a moment to throw herself into the crowd of Grisha on the floor, masking herself in the frantic heartbeats, before the Darkling lets out an inhuman, almost keening sound, slams his hands together, and sends them all into darkness.

Summary
She closes her eyes against the pain of it, breath hissing through her teeth as she tries to pull back and away. But he’s there, keeps her still, palm firm between her shoulder blades as he holds her down and still.
“Breathe, Alina,” he reprimands. The needle drags along her skin and leaves a hot trail behind. She forces herself to open her eyes, to look up at him, to watch the concentration, intent, to focus on his face. She takes as deep a breath as she can manage and then lets it out slowly. “Good girl,” he murmurs.

Plot rewrite from the moment Alina finds out she's the Sun Summoner. Started as a vague "tattoos, but Grisha" and exploded into this 45k plus word fic.
Story is completed, just working on editing. Daily updates until complete.

Summary
Opal Kuznetsova lived in a very small, very boring village called Tambov, that skirted the edge of the Novokribirsk ruins. She’d lived there, amongst the dust and darkness, for nearly two years.
--
An amnesia AU, in which the fight at the Fold in the Season One finale ends differently, and history turns in the Darkling's favour as a result. Meanwhile, Alina is thrown out into the world with no powers, no memories, and no understanding of who she once was.
