“He seemed bland, he didn't even play DND, or know what it was…?” Dustin admitted, the freedom that is the truth infecting them one by one. “He played on the college football team, and there he started to lose me because he just reminded me of the assholes from Hawkins.”
Mike was gaining that feeling of anger and hate, information confirming his intuition little by little, however that feeling was shared with the pride Mike felt from being right. Being right with one just look. Yet, he didn’t like that the boyfriend practically had no personality—what did Will and him even have in common? What did Will see in him? Since when did Will like jocks like that?

March of 1990, everyone's beginning their lives, trying their best not to separate. Easiest solution for that is to visit Will for his birthday and for Spring Break, a fun week for everyone! Especially Mike, he feels the most excited yet, ever since their graduation, the subconscious feeling that had been planted in his head forever has finally started to grow, and won't go away. Seeing Will would maybe help distract Mike, yet visiting only made it grow exponentially worse. Especially with Will's new boyfriend.

"'Your crush, who was it?' Mike asks again, unwavering and unforgiving. It’s blinding, suddenly being the sole focus of Mike’s attention, partly because Will has grown unused to it, but mostly because this question feels heavy. Pointed. Mike isn't making conversation to kill time; he’s on a mission.
Still, Will tries to dodge. 'Is this really the right time? The world is literally ending, in case you hadn’t noticed.' He tries to inject as much sarcasm and irritation into his words as possible, but he knows he falls flat. He can hear how breathless he suddenly got, the way he’s gasping between words. He’s half afraid Mike can hear his heart slamming uncomfortably against his ribs.
Mike doesn’t miss a beat, doesn’t even look abashed for a second, and keeps pressing on him with a shrug: 'Well, we’ve got nothing to do until Dustin radios, and who knows how long it’s gonna take, so… who was it?'"While awaiting to go fight their last battle in the Upside Down, Mike finally asks Will some questions.

Summary
Ever since Will Byers confessed his deepest secret at the Squawk, Mike Wheeler thought everything would continue forward as normal. And it did, though for Mike things were more.. Complicated. He knew that Will was talking about him, and in a way it felt like a sense of relief to him, to hear Will liked boys, but why? It couldn’t be normal to think that, so why did he? Why did this make him feel so much better and yet so guilty and heavy? Why did he care so much about this?
As he stands there beside Will at the tower, one can only wonder what his next words would be considering this could be the very last time they can talk to each other again, or even see each other again before the final battle against Vecna. The only chance for someone to.. Say something meaningful, closed off. Something that Mike has held back for a long, long time.

Summary
Since they were little, Mike and Will would have sleepovers in the basement when the whole party was over, but the nights when Dustin and Lucas (and later Max and El) were busy, they would sleep up in Mike’s room. It started when they were small, small enough to fit comfortably in Mike’s double bed without getting too much in each other's space. Or that was the idea anyway. But time and time again Mike would wake up with their legs tangled up together.
He would even sometimes wake pressed up against Will’s back, arm around his waist like they were spooning - but he refused to call it that. Because if he called it that, he’d have to address all the other ways they touched that best friends maybe didn’t do.
