He finds it hard to believe that the boy next to him—this one, with his brow furrowed and a gummy bear half-dangling from his lips as he concentrates—is the same person that strikes fear into the hearts of so many. Summary
Kryptonians ran hotter than humans by about 5.4 degrees, give or take a few decimal places. Clark felt like a radiator even on the bitterest of rainy nights on Gotham rooftops, a foot's distance between them; Bruce wondered if it would feel different somehow, if he pressed his hand against his chest, where his shield would lay, with intention—touch for the sake of touching. If it would feel different without the barrier of triple-weave kevlar and impenetrable alien fabric between them, stripped of the context of battle and the excuse of necessity.
Bruce was, however, in possession of all his faculties and thus was sound of mind enough to create a 20-item list (organized by relevance) of all the reasons why following through on his desires would be unwise. Chiefly among said reasons was, of course, that there were approximately thirty minutes before Clark would be married to the love of his life, Lois Lane, and that Bruce would never jeopardize their happiness for something as petty as feelings that he’d failed to smother in the cradle—no matter his alleged ‘self-destructive tendencies’.

Eiji drags Ash outside, into the snow. A playful fight leaves them breathless, tangled together on the cold ground.
Ash laughs, a sound so rare, so genuine, it fills the air like birdsong. His breath comes out in clouds, cheeks flushed as he rushes forward, snowball in hand. He closes the distance between them in a few long strides. Eiji tries to dodge, walking backward, but his foot slips on the icy ground, throwing him off balance. He almost manages to regain his footing, but then Ash’s arm wraps around his waist, and they both go down, tumbling into a snowbank in a flurry of snow and limbs.

Summary
Eiji isn't the only one who writes letters.
Griffin is the one who got him started, but Ash has been writing for years. It's a good way to clear his head. It helps some.
Ash doesn't know how to say goodbye. But he knows that he wants Eiji to know him, to remember him. All of him.
When his worst nightmare comes true, Eiji has left with the ghost of his lover, contained in a year's worth of letters he never knew about.
Each chapter is a different entry in Ash's final message to the love of his life. Most of them are short. Some of them are sweet. But all of them are Ash. And they are all Eiji has left.
