It starts with a bottle of umeshu, freely given. Tobirama sets it down slowly, condensation beading on rounded glass, dripping lazily onto her desk. Her face is haggard and she looks more ghost than human but her eyes are sharp and clear, defiance streaked in red.
“An apology,” she says, words neatly clipped.
