Essek barely allowed him to step into the main floor. Lavender fingertips pressed to Caleb’s chest, backing him up to the door and shutting it behind him. Though Essek was extremely underdressed compared to Caleb in his undone hair, bare feet, and casual wear, he pulled himself up to his full height –still several inches shorter than Caleb when not floating– and glared up at Caleb with a well practiced indignant facade.
“You, young man, are a Light damned tease.”

As Caleb approached, Essek’s gaze flicked up to meet him. Upon their eyes meeting, something not quite hungry, but certainly appreciative, flashed through illusory green eyes. They looked Caleb up and down, studying him, before carefully settling into a neutral gaze.
“You must be the Archivist Domade,” Caleb said politely as he gave a slight bow, “Beauregard has spoken highly of you.”
“Yes, that is I,” Essek said, demure in a way that the true Essek rarely was, “and you would be?”
“Professor Caleb Widogast,” Caleb introduced as he reached out his hand. A challenge and invitation placed in the air between them.

“Where to?” His mentor asks, and Merlin shrugs, before going to his room and packing his bag.
“India. Gaius, I have decided I don’t give a damn, especially not when having to eat that bland food. I’ll be back in three months, make sure Arthur doesn’t die when I’m out.”
“Merlin!” And maybe, if he was younger and didn’t travel back to the past last month, he would’ve actually cared about the ‘eyebrow of disapproval’.
Or, a 1500yo Merlin gets zapped to the past during his vacation to Cuba. You’d think he’s happy to see Arthur again. He’s not.
