“I said hold it,” Kyouko repeats, and to her credit her voice is demanding but not hostile. When Homura glances at her, she has an eyebrow raised. “Who are you? I’ve never seen you around. That’s Tomoe’s uniform, isn’t it?” She gestures towards Homura’s neckerchief, her skirt. “You fight too well for me not to know who you are. Where do you come from?”
Kyouko’s voice isn’t sincere. Even in previous repeats, when Sayaka has been able to make her most profound impression on the other girl, they’ve never come quite as far as sincere. But her eyes are wide and questioning, and despite the hard grip she has on Homura’s wrist, it occurs to her that Kyouko is… genuinely asking. She’s not being aggressive, she’s just curious. Intrigued, maybe.
And Homura…
remembers, the way Kyouko barged into Sayaka’s labyrinth, determined to save her, determined to put it all on the line for a girl who they all knew was well past saving.

A month later Akemi Homura sells her soul in a grayscale world that was full of life and color just minutes before.
The second time Akemi Homura meets Kaname Madoka, she runs up and promises to help Madoka, even as her eyes strain with getting used to color again. Her eyes only get a month to appreciate the feeling before her vision bleeds back to grayscale.
The third time, Akemi Homura is less excitable, more reserved. Her colors fade a month later as she pulls the trigger.
On the ninth loop, Akemi Homura wakes up to see her hospital room bathed in color and a tattoo on her wrist.

No character-bashing, just contemplating what could have happened if, when Sasuke left Sakura and their baby the second time, Sakura decided to file for divorce rather than wait for him to come back. Of course they still love each other. Of course it's not simple.
