Thanatos knew it was teasing from the way the upturned corners of his mouth twitched, as if he might burst into laughter at any moment, and the mischief sparking in his eyes. He liked that he could tell these shifts in Zagreus' mood now, because he saw them more often.

“I wish I was mortal so that I could kill myself,” Thanatos says, fervently and with great feeling.

The soft hint of sympathy in her tone only made the dread within Than spread.
'Oh, gods,' he thought. 'What have I done?'
'Major Character Death' both in the sense that Death is the major character, and also, y'know, Zag. (a.k.a. this is what happens when hearing that gong when I didn’t expect to during a Pact of Punishment run gave me feelings, apparently).
I added the graphic violence tag warning just to be safe; it can be skipped without missing much context if you just want the ThanZag fluff!

Summary
Thanatos takes him away when he can. Not far and not for long, of course, but together they venture into the Underworld, seeing the domain that is Zagreus’ by birthright and yet is unfamiliar to him as the moon. He has to work twice as hard to allow for the respites and, while he doesn’t particularly enjoy the feeling of eternally playing catch-up, he suffers it for Zagreus’ sake.
He would suffer many things to bring Zagreus a measure of peace, he thinks.

Summary
People didn’t like Gavin Reed. Gavin Reed didn’t like people. It went together like gin and tonic, you can’t have one without the other. Fate decided that Nines hated him and he hated Nines and so they kept playing their game by these set rules, never questioning the absurdity.
Maybe it was a coincidence that six months into their partnership, Gavin distinctly remembered rules are meant to be broken. It turned Gavin into pretending to dislike Nines. On the flip side, it turned Nines into a dense idiot with a crush, unable to grasp the concept of love. Both in utter denial.
Gravity works against them, draws them closer at a frightening pace. The android appears less opposed to it. How long will it take Gavin to realize he has to pull the door and stop pushing it like an imbecile?

“He’s not interested,” Gavin told her, his tone sugary and sharp. His smile didn’t come close to reaching his eyes, but triumph glinted there when the woman recoiled on herself. She gave him a nasty look, but Gavin had already turned to Nines with a small pout.
Unwanted attention forgotten, Nines’ body thrummed at Gavin’s pouty expression and glassy eyes. He wanted to tell Gavin that he looked sweet like that, that he’d look even better if he was on his knees.
“Let’s go,” Gavin more or less said rather than asked. The corner of Nines’ mouth twitched, pulling a small smile out of him.

And despite his best efforts, he knew he was blushing, too. Not because he was being called out, but because he wasn't fucking dating Tina and she certainly wasn't the source of those loud noises coming from his apartment. Nonetheless, she sure as shit was going to go run her mouth at the first chance she got.

Looking at statistics only, Gavin Reed and Nines made an excellent team: without a single case unsolved since they've started working together three months ago, everything appeared great. But it only scratched the very surface of their relationship.
Looking at their dynamics, it became obvious how much room for growth both still had: getting along with the robocop Gavin was crushing on while feeling unable to stop the asshole-front constantly proved to be a serious issue. And Nines acting as the punching bag of said asshole didn't help. Turned out that expressing emotions properly was pretty damn difficult.

Andy gives him a look like yeah, and? which is on-brand, for his kid. “So make better life choices than leaving your phone unlocked and crisis puking at eight in the morning, dude.”

Eddie turned and Steve was there, in his space, leaning forward until Eddie was pressed back into the kitchen island.
He could smell Steve’s cologne, could see the moles and freckles across his face, could taste the air around him, like honey and butter and frosting. And then Steve reached out and pressed his fingers to Eddie’s chest, drawing back just as quickly, leaving Eddie’s skin warm and tingling.
He’d also left something else on Eddie’s shirt.
He barely registered what had happened until he was sitting back down, and Dustin's eyes were on him along with the rest of the kids.
"No fair!" Dustin pointed, scowling at Eddie's shirt. "How come you got that one!"
"Uh," said Eddie and looked down.
I Did an Amooooozing Job Today! said a cow in a cowboy hat.
