Tim got sent to the principal’s office anyway because apparently flipping someone over your shoulder is “excessive force” even if they started it and even if you used the minimum amount of spine rearrangement necessary.
So now he had a disciplinary warning, no lunch, and a quiz on derivatives.
By fourth period his brain felt like it had been replaced with warm oatmeal. He got one question wrong because he wrote the answer in Cyrillic out of sheer sleep deprivation. The teacher circled it in red and wrote “????” which felt deeply judgmental.
-Where Tim found out in a hard way that he's not always right.

Tim nodded.
“Have you heard of Alvin Draper before?”
Before he could stop himself Tim was taking in a sharp breath that sounded almost pained.
One of his men must have talked, he supposed that’s what you got when you hire anyone who’s interested, but it still hurt. Maybe he should create proper profiles on all of them once this is done so he can deduce who’s trustworthy and who isn’t.
“No,” Tim said, although he was aware how obviously it was a lie.
Or: Tim accidentally becomes a crime lord.

Summary
The next time Arthur doesn’t say thank you, Gwaine puts his hand on Merlin’s back, stroking down the long length of it, from the short curls of hair at the nape of his neck to the neat cinch of his waist.
“Thanks,” he praises, throwing a wink to an agape Arthur as he does. It’s wonderful.
So wonderful, in fact, that for the next fortnight, for every brusque word that spills from Arthur’s lips, Gwaine spills three sweet ones.

Okay, technically, Robin might have a stalker. That, or Jason is having a stress-induced psychotic break or being routinely dosed with fear toxin every few patrols. Not that he’s scared, because, well, he’s not. It’s just. He’s supposed to be watching the streets, not vice versa.
It takes him a full week to find (circumstantial, at best) evidence.

Prince Arthur is the one in charge, and Merlin finds out that his secret regular visits to the covert haven't been very secret at all. There's a great deal of manly bonding with the Knights, inquisitive dragons being inquisitive, and a record-breaking number of near-death experiences for Merlin. And this is before he gets his very own dragon. (A Merlin/Temeraire fusion.)

“I see that,” Knight Gwaine says.
“I want this place to exist here forever. Forever and ever and ever.”
“You mean until King Arthur climbs out of it?”
“Yes,” Merlin says. “But after that, too, since I’m not like, 100% positive that he’s going to know what a fish ladder is. I figure we’ve got to do some work on that and probably his English before we let him go off into the wild.”
“Right. Obviously, the English. But what happens if someone tries to put another body in the lake while you’re here?”
Merlin doesn’t have an answer to that.
(Three women's bodies are dumped into a lake, and detective Gwaine Morgan is assigned the case. He does not anticipate said lake to be guarded by a local 12 year-old and is even less prepared for what happens when the 12 year-old becomes his murderer's next target.)

"It's effective," Merlin muttered petulantly. It had worked plenty of times and Arthur had never had an issue with it before. Granted, Arthur had never actually known that Merlin was doing it - but that was beside the point, since Merlin had still done it.
(Or the one where Merlin finds it easy to get used to having the four knights know about his magic instead of just the one - and he, surprisingly, also finds it annoying.)
