Gavin feels his entire world shatter as he’s delivered the news. Sitting on the cot of a hospital bed with a bullet wound to his shoulder that was still healing. A bullet that he had taken for Nines, only for the other to be fucking hit by a truck by their suspect head on.
The fucker who, apparently, couldn't even remember him now.
Fuck his life.

Nines gets severely damaged and his memory gets reset. Now Gavin has to deal with the fallout and he's not dealing with it well.

“Nostalgia?” Tommy interrupts. He squints at the figure, all confusing tangents and cynical jokes, the bird still perched on his head. “What, do I know you or something?”
Wilbur’s face darkens. He reaches out a hand, rubbing absently at a long slash going through his trench coat, a tear in the seams of it all. Tommy stills.
“No,” the villain finally mutters with a brittle laugh. “No, you don’t.”
…Or: Superhero AU in which Wilbur, upon waking up in an alternate universe, accidentally becomes a villain. Maybe not a very good one, though - he remains insanely, outrageously protective over the very heroes (and vigilante) hunting him down.

The tales say the forest was raised by witches decades ago when they were pushed too far by humans. Who better to travel to such forest and find Gabriel than a witch?
When McCree gets paid to rescue the Queen's knight, he expects to find a dead body as he knows the Forest of Abyss takes no prisoners. Instead he finds Gabriel, still breathing, captured by witches that keep the forest alive. They will let Gabriel go if Jesse proves he is worth saving. What can be more powerful and show more worth than a binding spell?

Perhaps I'll meet a kind spirit, he mused as he stacked the last few stones and stepped back. Surveying his work, and for a few moments he thought luck might smile upon him. But even through all of the endless questions she had of how, why, what now, she still made sure that she flew down to Ithaca every day, either choosing to be invisible or lurk in the trees as an owl and watched as Odysseus played with Eurylochus and Polites, watching as the three boys ran around the woods. Though oftentimes, the former two ran while the latter one merely followed. They acted like the children they were, but not how Athena remembered them to be.
Perhaps if there was a way, she would have gone to the underworld and demanded her grandfather's council — after all, Kronos was the Titan of time. Perhaps it was he who could explain how she had come to the situation she was in.
And where she was, was back in time, back in the past.

Of course it was the very first time he was sent on a mission without Reyes at his side that everything went incredibly, hideously wrong – and for all of the devil-may-care attitude Reyes kept telling him would get him into trouble, it also happened to be the first time since he’d picked up a gun and refused to stay down that McCree had the misfortune of being utterly and completely terrified.
