Jinu only shrugged and tapped the phone, mouthing listen as Abby continued talking. “I think I have something for you. My boss is looking for someone to help her daughter and daughter-in-law around the house, and she’s willing to pay good money for it. Like, stupid good money. If you’re interested, I could give her your information?”
“That sounds way too good to be true…What’s the catch?” Zoey asked and Abby had the decency to look like he’d been caught.
“Well…it’s not exactly like it sounds.” Abby said. “I can’t say too much because I had to sign an NDA just to even be considered for this job…but basically the gig includes cooking, cleaning, and looking after my clients daughter-in-law during the day. Only…the daughter-in-law is a quadriplegic.”

"Oh we're live!" Zoey's eyes flick up to the camera, her smile widening and both hands coming up to wave vigorously.
The chat explodes in greetings.
Rumi remains close to the camera, her brows furrowed together. "How do you know we're live?"
Zoey gestures at something off screen, "Because I hit that," and then she points over to something in the corner that makes Rumi visibly balk. "And because everyone is saying hi."
Rumi blinks slowly, "That's moving very fast."
Zoey lets out a laugh that is equal parts fond as it is amused. She reaches across Rumi for the mouse, faint clicking audible before she's addressing the chat. "Guys, baby's first stream! How do we feel?"

Summary
As all three demons dissolve, something strange happens.
The Honmoon twitches. Shudders. Something about it roils. The world, for a brief, blinding second, flips on its head. Rumi’s stomach lurches. The tightness in her chest closes into a fist, simultaneously vicious and gentle, as contradictory as it is. Rumi’s vision flashes white. She gasps and falls to her knees, the breath ripped from her lungs.
Gradually, her vision returns to her. She sucks in a sharp breath and looks around for Mira and Zoey, curious to know if they felt the same thing just now. Somehow, she already senses that they did.
On what should have been an ordinary demon hunt, there is a fundamental shift in the Honmoon. It blesses Rumi, Mira, and Zoey with the abilities to feel each other's pain and emotions. Mira and Zoey view it as a blessing, a boon to killing more demons and achieving the Golden Honmoon. But privately, Rumi views it as a curse. How is she possibly supposed to keep her secret when her friends can sense her every emotion?

“Been a little too busy with world domination, in case you haven’t noticed,” Mira says drily, though anyone who knows her—and that would be only the two people currently in this room—could see the faint blush that’s risen on the apples of her cheeks.
“Exactly. I was just thinking, I don’t want my first kiss to be with some person I barely know on an awkward first date. I want it to be with someone I really care about. Someone I love.” Zoey looks between Mira and Rumi. “Doesn’t that sound better?”

Being legally dead made certain things hard for Ava. She couldn't get a real passport or ID. Putting her name down on anything might lead to complications down the line. But for Ava, that didn't bother her. As along she could be with Beatrice, she could live without her name on a lease or having a real ID. Her fake one got her into bars just fine anyway.
But when Beatrice's father manages to find her real documents, its looking like she might just get a real ID after all. If only it didn't come with real family history was really, really complicated.

Zoey jets right, escaping the Ruby Fungi Forest in time enough to break four stone blocks in a wall and patch the hole, torch placed on the ground underneath her as she finally pauses the game.
“Zoey,” Rumi whines softly. “Please.”
Zoey freezes.
