Prompts: Symptomatic / Fancy Event / ResignationIn which everything hits Sara all at once: PTSD symptoms, sensory issues, flare ups of pain from old injuries, an awful headache, and to top it all off, dysphoria. Needless to say, Sara's having an incredibly rough day and only wants to stay curled up in bed. Unfortunately for them, though, Ava's got a fancy Time Bureau Gala to attend, and Sara's far too stubborn to cancel on her. They force themself to go even though they're not really up for it, simply resigning themself to having an even rougher time. Ava can tell her partner isn't doing well the second they walk into the room, and she tries to slip out of the gala with them as soon as she can so she can get them home and take care of them.

She doesn't really take the news very well. She silently struggles and spirals about it all day for the sake of the mission, but when they finally get back to the Waverider after everything, she can no longer push it all aside. Ava notices her heavy silence, and they finally have a chance to properly talk about how Sara's really doing and feeling with all of it.

She knew they’d be spending the next few hours mostly waiting for death to come knocking at those doors, and even if she had resigned to it, had come to an agreement with pain long ago, she was not willing to risk any of it before feeling Ava’s body against hers at least one last time..."
Or: missing scene from Season 5's ‘I Am Legend’. Ava and Sara get some precious alone time together in London before shit hits the fan. Sara knows of course, and desperately wants to be with Ava one more time before they all die, despite her confidence in Ava and the team to fix everything and bring them all back.
