“Oh wow, they’ve got you completely frazzled, aye?” Ethari remarked as he approached, a basket in his arms.
“You could say that.” Callum shook his head to clear it. “But that’s because they all brought their friends. I had six kids to watch today.”
“If you can’t handle six kids, how are you going to handle the ten you want?” Ethari teased.
Callum’s face turned beet red. “Can we please forget about that? I promise I didn’t mean it like that. I—”
Ethari clapped him on his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. I’m just joking.” He was still laughing to himself as he walked away to grab something from a nearby market stall, leaving Callum alone with Runaan.
“What did you mean by that?” Runaan asked him as soon as Ethari was out of earshot. Something told Callum that Ethari had probably told him not to corner and question him like this.
