A part of Garak had never let go, he knew that now. Had known it for a while, but hadn't been able to be honest with himself enough to admit it. Honesty meant facing the truth, and he'd never told the truth, except couched in lies and metaphor, for a reason.
Truth was a damning, terrifying concept.
And the truth was, he loved Julian.

It didn't matter that he ended up losing the Pokemon World Championship, or that he's been stagnant in Kanto for the past couple of months - he is now an adult in the eyes of Alolan laws, and the region still saw him as a powerful and worthy trainer.
Little did he know that stepping up to the plate was going to forcibly kickstart the next chapter of his life. Nothing was ever quite normal for the Chosen One, after all.
Though he is still yet to learn that he should reach out for help before it's too late.
