Lovely Victorian romance. I usually hate the "I'm only gay for YOU!" trope, but this story proved to be the exception. I appreciated that the two didn't just fall into bed and go straight from gay virgin to hardcore sodomy...the developing romance was slow enough to feel realistic, respectful (if that's not a silly term to use for fictional characters) of the awkwardness and fear that would accompany a mid-life sexual identity crisis. Likewise appreciated that while some characters exhibited period-typical homophobia, they weren't turned into cartoon villains. Also, I *adored* Mrs. Hudson in this. ;)
