When Fanny, a teenager in her mid 17's transferred schools again with her brothers after moving for the second time that year due to financial problems, she meets one of her old best friends; Lightning, (18M) by pure coincidence when walking past each other on the street and soon finds out he is going to the same school she is being transferred into.
The conversation ends between the two when he gives her a flier for an afterschool babysitting club called "CHILD P.A.C.T." that he was supposedly in, giving her a invite so that she could meet new people he was friends with that also goes to her new school, giving her a paper with his number so they could contact each other later; though it also had another small slip of paper attached he didn't disclose, running away before she got the chance to ask what it was.
Even though she thought the name sounded like something a cult would use, she goes to the first meeting anyways due to her siblings nagging her about it to the point where she caved— which ended up with her begrudgingly joining the club after the group basically got on their hands and knees for her to join at the end of their now weekly hour and a half session.
