Katniss’ mouth dropped open. “What? No. For how long?”
He enjoyed her distress. “For as long as necessary.” He stood up and before leaving, pushed a button on the projector on the desk. Katniss sucked in a breath and made a noise of distress. Footage of her and Gale kissing just an hour before played in front of her. Snow walked around the desk, pausing in back of her. His hand slid heavy over her shoulder, squeezing just a little. “For your loved one’s sakes, I hope you understand what is expected of you, Miss Everdeen.”
Tears blinded her. She didn’t even think about shrugging his hand off. “What? What is expected of me?”
He stooped just a little. “Why, to do whatever I want you to do, of course. You’re mine. You belong to me now. Your life… your body… your soul… and the lives of everyone you love… all belong to me now. Do you understand?”

Summary
After watching Katniss battle his friends during the 74th Hunger Games and coming out the other side with Peeta Mellark, Darius is forced to watch as the girl he loves play pretend for the whole of Panem - Capitol and rebels alike. Knowing that each day could be their last, Darius and Katniss are desperate to steal as much time together as they possibly can and hope no one learns the truth of their relationship.
Back in District 2, however, Darius's family mourn the deaths of loved ones in the 74th Games. Sergius and Aurelia still expect their son to fall in line, especially as rumours spread of rebellion with the Girl on Fire at the centre of the storm.
A story of the Hunger Games, featuring Darius the Peacekeeper as Katniss's central love interest, including his POV of certain events.
