Summary
While searching for the remains of the time-machine-jumper that brought Elizabeth Weir back in time, McKay finds reference to one of Janus's contemporaries, another scientist who worked to find a solution to the problem of the Wraith, only using methods that eventually even the Ancients wouldn't countenance. The team head to the planet where this Ancient had his laboratory, but hit trouble as soon as they're through the gate. Stuck on a frozen world, the only viable place to wait is the laboratory, only it is not quite as abandoned as they think.

Rodney knows he’s never been good with words. He’s fluent in numbers, but words have never come easily. Yes, he’s published plenty of them, all of them groundbreaking and unparalleled contributions to the field of theoretical physics—bringing it out of the theoretical, in some cases. There’s also the words that he has to expend to explain to the lesser minds around him how he’s going to save their asses, over and over, and those words are also pretty cool and interesting, or would be if anyone around to hear them were ever able to understand, or let him finish.
Then there are the words for this, which he’s convinced don’t exist. Surely language hasn’t evolved to the point that it can adequately capture this feeling.
