Story Summary:
"This book follows the story of August Paine and Oliver Clarkson, two attendees of a famous American boarding school in the mid 1900’s. One day during a break in between classes Oliver decides to go visit the old library just off of school grounds, and August goes with him. They eventually find themselves trapped in the library, which turns out not to be a normal building, but a highly powerful machine that can harness energy and convert it into the means in which to travel to different points in time with the help of a special book. The two boys decide to enter through the door and find themselves in a destroyed library, during a broken dystopian America in the year 2035, right after World War III. The American people have been ordered by the government to rebuild the nation, but they can’t do it properly while the government is covering up important parts of their history. August and Oliver realize that they won't be able to get back in time to their time period unless they get everyone to help out one another and rebuild the library with the missing history."
