Had Alois and Ciel met under different circumstances, they could have worked like the sun and the moon, even their hair colours show that. Ciel could have given Alois affection he never had, and Alois could have taught Ciel to smile. If Alois had found out about Ciel on other terms - maybe with less of a grudge - I recon they'd sit and play chess together, maybe Alois could have taught him to dance.
