Wen Ruohan snorts. “You always seemed to have a more traditional mindset. Turns out you’re more modern than I thought.”
“This isn’t something to joke about! This is the rest of your life! Wen Ruohan, I’m telling you-” Lan Qiren’s teeth snap shut. “…Then, do you agree?” he asks more quietly.
“I thought we were friends!” Wen Ruohan snaps. “Shouldn’t you be saying ‘congratulations’ instead?”
Lan Qiren’s tone is cold, as is his gaze when he meets Wen Ruohan’s eyes. “Congratulations,” he says seriously. “I wish you many years of happiness.” He dips his head in a much too formal way.

"Lan-laoshi, would you like to say anything to the fans?"
Generally, Lan Qiren seems very removed and cold – and yet his range on screen is god-like. However, in real life, he's a total conversation-killer. His interviews are often quite short, and the answers to all questions are very serious. "I thank the fans for their support."
"…Uh, ah… Anything else?"
Lan Qiren is most famous for his guzhuang roles. That isn't to say he hasn't played modern dramas and even comedies – but the name "Lan Qiren" conjures up a certain image. Now, however, Ren-ge-ge has become Lan-shu – a refined middle-aged man no longer suitable for the role of a 'young master.' Old enough to be the 'young master's' father, Lan Qiren knows that despite his impeccable reputation, he'd be unavoidably less popular.
Who knew, his popularity would suddenly soar again? Not that he understands why, at all. "The fans' support is most generous. I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you."

Lan Qiren Week Day 3 - Prompt: Love
Lan Qiren vows never to allow such a corruption to take root in his own heart. Adherence to the Rules will give him all that he needs – a balance and strength that he requires in order to fulfill his duty. He would never be able to say that he hates love, for that would require him to admit that he is in the throes of some overwhelming emotion (as is forbidden). However, he is clearly aware that ‘love’ is a dangerous and unpleasant thing, antithetic to that which he is devoted to.
Love, as a grand, abstract concept, he can admire. It would be unreasonable to entirely deny the phenomenon of its existence, for the Gusu Lan Sect itself was built on the dream of Lan An and his most dearly beloved wife. However, he cannot reconcile this with the reality he sees before himself – love as a destructive, corrupting force.
